Watch from a checkpoint
Want to experience the excitement in person?
The designated race checkpoints are some of the best places to watch the action as crews arrive, make lightning-fast crew changes, and head back out onto the water.

Use our Waypoints Map to find the checkpoint nearest you. To time your visit, we recommend following the Live Race Tracker, which shows each boat's real-time location and estimated progress around the island. That way, you'll know exactly when to head down to cheer on your favourite team—and you won't miss the action!

Catch the early start!
Early risers can catch the exciting start to this event, as coastal crew boats blast off from the starting line.
Where: Drummond Park, Fulford Harbour, Salt Spring Island

When: Race starts at 7:00am sharp, so make sure to arrive early to watch the boats launch and get a great view of the start

Viewing tips: Parking may be limited; Fulford Hall is close by and has a much larger parking lot for overflow -get there early to account for the walk.

Finish line celebrations!
Return to where it all began to cheer on crews as they cross the finish line! Stay for the award ceremony
Where: Drummond Park, Fulford Harbour, Salt Spring Island

When: Race ends at various times throughout the afternoon, usually between 3pm and 6pm

Viewing tips: RAR is not often a tight race. We expect about two hours or more from first place finish to when the last crew crossed the finish line.
If you’re not in a hurry, this can be a fun place to hang out, and connect with athletes post race—including the award ceremony.
