Solo (C1x) Application

Planning to enter a Solo category?

Application deadline: 11:59pm on Saturday, 18 July 2026
The organizing committee will review your submission and respond within approximately two weeks.

Why an application form

Solo participation is permitted in Race Around the Rock as part of the event’s continued evolution toward a broader range of endurance formats. Non-relay entries, including solo athletes, require a higher degree of self-sufficiency and extended exposure to open-water conditions over the 88 km course.

A brief application process allows the Organizing Committee and Chief Umpire to confirm that applicants have the appropriate experience and capability to safely meet these demands. This includes consideration of prior endurance rowing experience, coastal or open-water competency, and the ability to manage the physical and navigational demands of the event.

This process also helps ensure consistency in how participant readiness is assessed across all entry types and supports effective planning of safety and operational resources.

As this is an emerging category within the event, this approach provides a structured and transparent way to establish a clear standard for participation going forward.
