Why INDOOR Rowing?

Indoor rowing is a low-impact, full-body workout that’s easy on joints, scalable for all fitness levels, and surprisingly fun. With built-in metrics and challenges, it turns fitness into a game—whether you’re chasing consistency, improvement, or friendly competition. Coached technique helps you row efficiently, avoid injury, and makes indoor rowing a great pathway to getting on the water.

Michael Strumberger

Assistant Coach

Michael joined the club three years ago after discovering indoor rowing at the gym and quickly becoming hooked on the erg. Encouraged by the club’s indoor program, he began competing in indoor rowing, attending his first regatta (the Kraken) in winter 2021 and earning podium finishes since then. He went on to complete a mid-season Learn to Row and rowed his first on-water season as a novice, training alongside the junior program. Michael now enjoys sculling in a single at masters rows, is getting into crew rowing, and especially loves rowing doubles — and is excited to help others discover how the erg can turn fitness into a fun, motivating game.
