SSIRC offers two options for people wanting to row with us:

Adult Annual Membership
Annual membership confers a rower the following privileges:

Unlimited use of skulls, oars and other club equipment

Ability to reserve boats up to one week in advance

Coaching (on an ad hoc basis)
The cost of full membership is $400 per year (as of the 2024/2025 season). Membership payment is due at the beginning of the spring on March 31st of every year. A membership is valid from April 1st to March 31st of the subsequent calendar year.
Punchcard (drop-in)
The punchcard is a flexible way to enjoy the benefits of the club with the following conditions:

Purchase 1, 5, or 10 rowing sessions

Ability to reserve boats from 5:00 pm the day before you want to row

Coaching is available for a fee
-
Valid from April 1 to March 31 of the subsequent calendar year

Punchcard options:

1-time drop in - for someone familiar with rowing at SSIRC

Student* rate $20
-
Standard rate $30
-
This is for someone who has rowed with SSIRC before and is able to take out a boat on their own without the need of another member showing them how.

1-time drop in - for someone new to SSIRC

Student* fee - $30
-
Standard fee - $45
-
This is for someone not familiar with how to take out a boat and needs extra time from a member to get them set up for their row.

5-time drop-in

Student* fee - $75

(= $15.00 per row)

Standard fee - $125
-
(= $25.00 per row)

10-time drop-in

Student* fee - $125
-
(= $12.50 per row)

Standard fee - $200
-
(= $20 per row and is a $50 savings compared to purchasing two 5-time punchcards.)

Options to purchase more sessions after the initial punchcard is used up:
-
a 5-time user can purchase another 5-time or 10-time at the going rate.

A 10-time user can add a 5-time for $100.
-
* A Student is anyone enrolled full-time in secondary or post-secondary school.
Punchcard Regulations:
-
Rowing Canada and Rowing BC fees must be paid by the punch-card holder for every year their card is valid.

These fees are in addition to the cost of the punch card or single drop-in
-
If you are registered with another club, please provide proof of RCA and RBC membership - (NOTE, RBC and RCA fees may need to be paid twice. As of March 2024, RCA is still working to fix this.)

Punch cards are valid for our fiscal year (April 1 to March 31)

Punchcards are non-transferable.

A rower may purchase one single-use per year.

The single-use fee may be put toward full membership. (Full membership fee will be reduced by the amount paid for single-use punchcard)

A punch-card user may convert to a full membership once in their lifetime. The user would pay the difference to receive full membership.

Must adhere to all club & safety rules - failure to do so may result in the loss of any remaining uses with no refund.

Punch-card holders are not eligible to vote at any meetings. However, they are of course allowed to submit suggestions.

Coaching:

For a targeted coached session, If coaching is available, a fee of $15 per session, payable same day via e-transfer to ssirowing@gmail.com Attention: Marianne with a note describing what the payment is for.

Punchcard Usage Rules/Procedures:
-
BEFORE the first row, Must receive a familiarization briefing and be checked out by an authorized SSIRC member. Please note that the club is a volunteer-based organization, therefore the checkout procedure will be done when a member is available.

Punchcard users must sign out / reserve a boat on our signout form on Boathouse Connect.

Failure to do so will result in the loss of 2 uses. Failure to sign out a boat twice may result in the forfeiture of your remaining uses without a refund.

Punch-card users may reserve a boat after 5:00 pm the night before a row.

A full member may reserve a boat up to a week in advance even if a punchcard user is part of the crew of that same boat. Punchcard users must use one of their punchcard sessions for the row.

Regattas:

Punchcard users may participate at regattas under SSIRC and get last priority for boats and use a punchcard session for the regatta if using an SSIRC boat.

Punchcard users share in any regatta-related expenses as would a full member.

Punchcard users would not use up a punchcard session if not using an SSIRC boat at the regatta (eg Cadborosourus fee includes the rental of a coastal boat in 2024)
